Development Disabilities

A program that includes social service activities for a person with mental retardation or related conditions who is determined by the county to be in need of services which includes a diagnosis and assessment of current condition to determine eligibility. Based on the assessment information, services are designed, arranged, and provided to the person. As services are provided, monitoring is required to ensure that the services meet the person's need in the least restrictive environment and most cost-effective manner. In the case of children, this program area also includes services directed toward the support of the families involved.
